ABOUT ME

90631941_10219152526781899_4341674717451

I'm a recent English graduate from the University of Exeter, looking to gain some writing experience as I begin my career. Throughout my degree, I particularly connected with learning and writing about social justice issues regarding colonialism / postcolonialism, African American literature and history, British racial discourse, and resource conflict and climate change. I am particularly interested in the crossovers between my areas of interest, and hope to continue to learn through my writing and possibly further study in the future.

MY PICK

OF THE MONTH

Story Book

Here I will recommend and offer a brief summary of a book that I have enjoyed recently (and maybe some podcasts, TV, and films if you're lucky).

NEW: Website recommendation

Hive.co.uk

As the dubious ethics of Amazon have come under fire in recent years, I have increasingly tried to make purchases elsewhere. I understand that Amazon’s convenience is a huge selling factor for so many people (including me) with busy lives.

So, when I came across Hive I was overjoyed. It has the convenience of Amazon for books, great prices, AND you can choose a local/independent bookstore to give a percentage of your order price to when you check out.

Recommendations, non-fiction:

  • Democracy Now!

  • Brown Baby

  • Intimations

Recommendations, fiction:

  • The Girl with the Louding Voice

  • Such a Fun Age

  • Grown Ups

  • Little Fires Everywhere

Recommendations, podcasts:

  • About Race with Reni Eddo-Lodge

  • Dissect, Season 7

  • The Guilty Feminist, Episode 221: 'Making Money Matter'

Read more about these in my "Book Recommendations: March" article.
